I WAS SCARED when I first came to CrossFit. I was afraid that I wasn’t strong enough, fit enough, or cool enough to get started in a CrossFit class… but that couldn’t be further from the truth!
I was always an athlete growing up and took to running early on. I went onto compete in the heptathlon (7 events) in college and post college but once my years on a team were over, I was like, “now what?” I literally had no idea what to do, so I went to a local gym and participated in some 5k’s here and there. I did the same, old routines day in and day out and pretty soon, I became bored!
I came to CrossFit SOAR when my husband first introduced me through a running workout, named “Murph.” The workout was tough but I enjoyed it so much! Despite being intimidated, I also came because, as I mentioned, I was bored with my gym routine and I needed something new. I also came because everyone was so darn friendly and welcoming; I’m a sucker for friendly people!
CrossFit was the best answer because it filled the needs of introducing variety into my routine as well as community. In fact, one of the reasons I became a coach was BECAUSE of the community. Most people come in after a long day at work or just before heading into work. They originally come to the gym because they may be looking to lose a few pounds, dial in their nutrition, and/or learn how to get out of pain. If that’s you, we get it because we were there too!
When I’m not coaching classes, I love teaching specialties like running, pull-ups and muscle-ups, and working with preconeption, prenatal and postpartum women through BIRTHFIT New Jersey – because mamas need support in the gym as much as anyone!
If you’re like me and you’re looking for a supportive community that will help you reach your goals, come join us at CrossFit SOAR. You’ll love it here!
